A morning walk turned into an 11 and half mile trek around the neighborhood. I traveled light this time and carried Owen in a Connecta carrier without a loaded pack. I came across this particular carrier on a local trade group on FB. Unlike all of the other soft structures carriers we’ve seen at Babywearing International, such as the Lillababy and kinderpack, which mostly feel heavy, bulky and uncomfortable to me, the Connecta is lightweight and nimble. The fabric also offers sun protection, a nice feature as we skip right into summer this year. Owen seemed comfortable and supported in the carrier.
With no extra weight on me we were able to move fairly quickly at a 20 min/mile pace. We made two stops for nursing and diaper change. Owen had no problem with any of it. In fact, he was a perfect little companion on the five-hour outing. He spent most of the time napping. During the time when he was awake, he seemed mesmerized by his surroundings. He was so focused on looking up at all the trees even we had a hard time getting his attention. It made me happy to know he’s watching and absorbing things around him.
